I am a pelvic health physiotherapist with close to 20 years of experience in Urology, Uro-gynaecological and Obstetric physiotherapy. I have been working as a Physiotherapist for over 20 years. My career began in the British National Health Service in 2000, where I worked in a variety of clinical areas gaining experience in community, hospital acute and rehabilitation setting. I then developed my interest in Urology further, travelling to and working in a large New Zealand teaching hospital.
I returned to Scotland where I set up the first Urology Physiotherapy department in the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. I spent the next 10 years developing pathways of care for female and male patients with continence issues that required conservative therapy alongside consultant care. This included neurological patients with continence issues secondary to their MS and PD, and also prostate cancer multi-disciplinary pre and post op continence and erectile dysfunction care. I moved to Singapore in 2016. I ran my own successful clinic in Singapore for 2 years before returning home to Scotland.
My approach is to fully discuss the problem you are presenting with – this will include asking you for details of your management of this problem to date and any other relevant medical condition, medications and lifestyle. I will then work with you to find out why you are experiencing your symptoms before discussing a plan of action and treatment. Pelvic health issues are much more common than a lot of people realise – you can get back control of your bladder and bowel.
Outside work, I am married and kept busy with an active child. I enjoy travelling, having explored extensively around South East Asia.
